Published October 20, 2009

Etowah County authorities charged a Boaz man with burglary and an Altoona woman with receiving stolen property on the same day, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Nickolus Adam Meeks, 29, of Boaz, is charged with one count of third-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft of property, authorities reported.

“Both are felonies,” investigator Shane Hartley said.

Ashley Starr Alford, 20, of Altoona, is charged with felony first-degree receiving stolen property, Hartley said.

On Oct. 14, Meeks allegedly broke into a Meeks Road residence in Boaz and stole jewelry, medication and a gun, authorities said.

The items were valued at $39,535.

Alford received two rings and a bracelet valued at $3,500 from Meeks on the same day as the burglary and theft, authorities said.
