GUNTERSVILLE — The Marshall County Commission approved the insurance carrier for property, equipment and physical damage for automobiles during a meeting Monday.
Allison Agency, of Albertville, will cover the county for 2010 at a cost of nearly $78,500. County officials said the cost rose by about $20,000 over 2009.
“We re-evaluated the replacement costs of the buildings the county owned and realized some of them were underinsured and needed to be increased considerably,” county administrator Nancy Wilson said. “We also had the addition of the old armory, which is the newest county courthouse annex.”
Commissioners also approved a number of requests for grants and travel at the meeting.
The commission approved four requests by Anita McBurnett, director of the Emergency Management Agency.
The requests included acceptance of $9,052 of federal funding from an Emergency Management Performance Grant and another $5,834 of EMPG funding to be used in 2010.
Commissioners also approved McBurnett’s request for travel to an Alabama Association of Emergency Managers workshop and her request for a resolution regarding a community storm shelter in the Hebron community.
McBurnett said she will hopefully know by March whether or not the Federal EMA funding is earmarked for the shelter project, which requires 25 percent matching funds from the county.
