Country recording artist Jake Owen plans to bring his “Eight Second Ride” to Sardis City on Saturday as the headliner of Pumpkin Jam.
The concert, featuring Owen and country singer/songwriter John Stone, is scheduled at 7 p.m. at the Sand Mountain Corn Maze off Cox Gap Road in Sardis City. Gates open at 4.
Tickets are $12 and children ages 3 and younger are admitted for free. Concert goers are asked to bring their chairs and blankets. Coolers are not allowed.
Ticket locations include WQSB, Heavy Machinery & Tractor Co. in Albertville and the Sand Mountain Corn Maze in Sardis City.
Owen was nominated for 2009 New Artist of the Year by the Country Music Association. The Floridian’s radio hits include “Yee Haw,” “Starting With Me,” “Something About a Woman” and “Don't Think I Can’t Love You.” His latest single, “Eight Second Ride,” is quickly moving up the Billboard Country Songs chart at No. 28 this week.
“Jake Owen is the hottest thing going in country music, and he is a great performer,” said Jenna Payne, of WQSB. “He puts on a high-energy show and really connects with his audience.”
Stone is originally from Dogtown and known for his country single “Shame On Me.” Stone has toured with Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Craig Morgan and Gretchen Wilson.
“He is a phenomenal guitarist and performer and has been a longtime friend of WQSB,” Payne said. “Several years ago he traveled and entertained on the campaign trail for former President George W. Bush.
“John generously donated an autographed guitar from President George W. Bush to be used in our annual St. Jude Radiothon. His generosity resulted in a $5,500 contribution.”
The Pumpkin Jam is presented by WQSB and the Sand Mountain Corn Maze, which is an impressive 14-acre maze featuring the shape of the state of Alabama, “ALABAMA’S COUNTRY GIANT” and “WQSB.”
“Wade and Donna Cahela have worked tirelessly on making this attraction fun for the whole family,” Payne said. “This year, when Donna and Wade Cahela approached the station about putting together a country music concert, everybody at the station was on board.”
