Services will be today, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at McRae Funeral Home with Dr. Aaron Johnson and Brother Jonathan Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Ms. Morris was born Oct. 14, 1922, to Walter and Dora Wilson. She was a 1942 graduate of Boaz High School. She owned and operated Bon Nell Restaurant, in downtown Boaz, and then worked at the H.D. Lee Company before becoming a library and museum clerk at Snead State Community College. She retired from Snead State in August 2009.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Boaz. She was a member of the margaret White Sunday School Class. It is a FBC Boaz where she affectionally became “MaMa Nell” to so many, because of her sweet temperament, gracious smile and fun-loving personality. But MaMa Nell is perhaps most known for her delicious homemade dessert treats that she lovingly shared with most everyone she knew and loved.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Tidwell; granddaughter, Deidra Tidwell, son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Johnna Morris; grandson, Jordan Morris; special friends, Florine Tidwell, Irene Ragsdale and Willene Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Walter and Dora Wilson; brothers, Garlon “Red” Wilson and L.M. “Spider” Wilson; and sister, Clarice Lackey.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Lackey, Mark Smith, Donald Wills, Bobby Wilson, Danny Wilson, Jody Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Michael Lackey, Bobby Wilson and B.J. Faucett.
Special caregivers were Dr. Evan Johnson and the staff of Crossville Health & Rehab.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to First Baptist Boaz, Crossville Health & Rehab, or Hospice of Marshall County.
