Albertville's Santa Fe marks one year

Published November 7, 2009

It’s been a little over a year since Santa Fe Cattle Company opened its doors in Albertville.

“We expected the store to open up with some pretty strong sales, most of the Santa Fes do,” said Chris Aycock, general manager of the Albertville store.

“We didn’t set any personal corporation records or anything when we opened up right off the bat, but to be honest, we’ve held on to our sales a lot better than just about any other Santa Fe out there.”

Aycock said the store is usually No. 2 in the company for sales.

“The area has really been good to us,” he said.

He also said most of the people who started working at the restaurant a year ago are still there, which are rare in the restaurant business. Stores usually see a high turnover rate.

Two of the servers who have been there since the beginning, Jenifer Centers and Kristi Cannon, said they love coming to work every day because of all of the new people they get to meet.

“The best thing I like about my job would probably have to be the interaction with different people on a daily basis, and that keeps things interesting,” Cannon said.

Over the past year, the store not only created jobs for the city of Albertville, it has provided the city with a recruiting tool for other businesses.

“It has been a tremendous asset for the community in more ways than one,” Lyons said.

“It’s a great restaurant, No. 1, and it is a magnet that draws people into our community from surrounding towns.”
