Albertville high softball team hosts concert

Published October 29, 2009

The Albertville High School softball team is sponsoring an Ivan Parker concert at Albertville City Schools’ new fine arts building. The event will raise money for the team.

Parker is a Southern gospel singer who has won vocalist of the year for the last four out of five years, according to Lee Fleming, a spokesman for the event.

“He is a phenomenal draw for this area,” Fleming said. “He is probably the single best known male soloist gospel music act in the country right now.”

The concert will be Jan. 17 and tickets will go on sale Nov. 2.

Advance general admission tickets are $12, and $15 if purchased at the door.

There will also be artist circle tickets sold for the first five or six rows at a cost of $25 per ticket, Fleming said.

These tickets include a meet and greet with Parker an hour before show time.

Fleming said they are expecting a sell-out event, and are asking the city to provide a policeman to patrol the parking lot during the event.

“We’ve already had phone calls from people in Birmingham, and I know for a fact we will have people come from Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia, just to hear this man sing,” Fleming said.

All of the money goes to the softball team, but there will be a “love offering” during the show, which will benefit Hospice of Marshall County.
