Kids helping kids

Published December 3, 2009

Students at Albertville Middle School are challenging other students to help them make Christmas brighter for children in need.

AMS student government members are collecting unwrapped, new toys for the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. Their goal is for each of the schools’ 400 students to donate at least one toy to the cause.

“We never would have thought there were kids in our school who would not be getting presents for Christmas but ... there is a girl in one of my classes who said her parents didn’t have money this year for presents,” said Jenna Chandler. “That’s sad.”

“We are putting signs in stores in town hoping people will see them and think to buy a toy and bring it here,” said student Madeline Munroe.

If you are unable to make a donation at AMS, additional drop off locations in Marshall County include Alexander Mitsubishi and Mazda, 7710 U.S. 431, Albertville, where donors may visit with Santa on Friday and Saturday; Walgreens locations in Boaz and Albertville; and Glasses for Less, 4673 U.S. 431, Albertville.
