CHS boys win, girls lose to Plainview

RAINSVILLE — Class 3A, No. 3 Crossville defeated DeKalb County rival Plainview 45-42 in varsity boys action Nov. 24 at DeKalb County Schools Coliseum.

The Lions led 12-8, 25-17 and 35-32 at the rest stops.

Crossville sank 6-of-13 3-point field goals and 9-of-14 free throws.

Plainview was only 1-of-9 beyond the arc and 3-of-4 from the foul line.

Brad Smothers’ 12 points led the Lions. Both Justin Mayo and Kole Richards scored 10.

Mayo also posted seven rebounds and four steals. Richards cleared seven boards.

Anthony Roque netted seven points and both John Williamson and Mitchell Fountain three for CHS.

Jacob Crowell topped the Bears’ attack with 10 points.

VARSITY GIRLS

Plainview 48, Crossville 43: The Lady Lions suffered their first setback of the season in the Nov. 24 contest.

Crossville led 10-4 after a quarter, but the Bears were in front 24-22 at the half. The Lady Lions were up 36-34 at the final break.

Plainview outscored Crossville 14-7 in the fourth period.

Darby Williamson scored 16 points to propel Crossville. She hit 4-of-6 3-pointers.

Chelsey Dixon scored nine, Emily Peek eight, Molly Williamson three and Keelie Wilkes, Jaycie Bobo and Hillary Harper two apiece. Macey Simpson added one.

Peek collected 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Williamson dished out five assists.

Jade Crowell’s 22 points led Plainview.ꆱ
