• In Albertville, students at both Albertville Elementary and Evans Elementary schools will recognize veterans with separate programs beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Students will perform musical salutes to soldiers, take them on a parade through the school and offer refreshments following the program.
• Boaz High School students will present a program Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the school’s auditorium. All veterans, current service personnel and their families are invited to attend. Guests should be in the lobby of the school by 9:15 a.m. to register and be seated. A reception will follow in the school library.
• The 17th annual Veterans Day celebration will be held at Douglas High School on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Activities include a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. A 190-voice choir will perform with the history department and lunch will be provided in the choral building. Members of all the school’s clubs will provide lunch. Students will also spend some one-on-one time with veterans to hear their stories. For more information, call Rebecca Walker at 593-2810.
• Albertville Middle School annual Veteran’s Day program will be Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. in the schools gymnasium. Registration and refreshments will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the school’s library.
• Three Marshall County Veterans of Foreign Wars posts will hold Veteran’s Day services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Marshall County Courthouse Veterans Monument in Guntersville. Col. Andrew R. Finlayson, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired) will be the guest speaker. The County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will post the colors and present a rifle salute. The public is invited to attend and may bring lawn chairs to enjoy during the event.
• The Arab Post 6226 Veterans of Foreign Wars will play host to a Veteran’s Day ceremony and program at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The event will take place at the veteran’s monument in the Arab City Park. The Klassy Kickers line dancers will perform; the Marshall County Sheriff’s Honor Guard will perform; and the Arab Boy Scout Troop 60 and Cub Scout Pack 60 will have a flag retirement program. The public is invited and asked to bring lawn chairs. Col. Andrew R. Finlayson, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired) will be the guest speaker.
• Boaz Middle School will sponsor a program Thursday. Wade Franks will be the featured speaker during the event slated to begin at 10 a.m. in the school’s gym.
