Yard signs help send Aggie Band to Rose Bowl

Published July 27, 2010

“We helped the Aggies march to …” signs have been planted throughout Marshall County, and probably parts of surrounding counties as well.

The signs are part of a fundraiser to help the Aggie Band fund its trip to the 2011 Rose Parade.

According to Albertville High School Band Director Chris Lindley, the band started out with 1,000 yard signs, and now have about 50 left.

“If people want them we’ll have them,” he said.

The band is looking to send 215 students to the Rose Parade.

The trip will cost $1,650 per person.

With about five months left before the band departs for California, there are still about 30 students who need help raising money for the trip.

“We’ve got 30 kids right now that are working hard to fundraise, but they still lack the funds to participate in the Rose Parade,” Lindley said.

He said, in order to ensure everyone gets a chance to go, the band needs to raise another $50,000.

“We’ve got to raise the money to help get these kids out there,” he said.

The yard signs cost $10 a piece, and $7 goes toward a student’s trip.

Lindley said if anyone wants to donate or purchase a yard sign they can contact him via e-mail at clindley(at)albertk12.org.
