Published November 24, 2009

CROSSVILLE — Molly Williamson’s 20 points topped three Crossville players in double figures as the Lady Lions whipped Hokes Bluff 65-44 in their home opener Friday night.

Williamson hit 3-of-3 3-point field goals and 9-of-12 free throws for Crossville, which improved to 2-0.

Emily Peek netted 15 and Keelie Wilkes 12 for the Lady Lions, who were in front 19-7, 34-13 and 44-20 at the quarter breaks.

Darby Williamson scored six, Hillary Harper five, Macey Simpson four, Jaycie Bobo two and Chelsey Dixon one for the Lady Lions.

Crossville shot 54.3 percent from the field while limiting Hokes Bluff to 29.2 percent shooting.

Brittany Pennington’s 15 points led the Eagles.

“We came out and played inspired in the first half and were able to build a good lead,” said CHS head coach Jon Peppers.

“Our defense really played hard tonight, and offensively we seemed to hit the shots we missed earlier in the week.

“This was a great team win for us against a good 4A Hokes Bluff team, and I hope this game will prove to my players what they are capable of doing when they play hard on both ends of the court.”
