A grand jury handed down a new indictment of murder Friday against a Rainbow City woman in the death of her 5-year-old son, according to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
Shalinda Kalika Glass, 28, is now indicted on two counts of murder and two counts of capital murder for the death of her son, Geontae Glass, Entrekin said in a press release.
Glass has been in custody at the Etowah County Detention Center without bond since Dec. 4, 2006. Her trial is slated to begin next year.
Last month, a jury convicted Glass’ boyfriend, Kevin Andre Towles, 34, of capital murder and recommended the death penalty for Geontae’s murder. An Etowah County circuit judge is expected to sentence Towles on Dec. 15.
Prosecutors allege Towles brutally beat Geontae to death, and Glass and Towles faked an abduction to cover up the crime.
Glass reported Geontae was sleeping in her car when the vehicle was stolen from an Albertville gas station on Dec. 4, 2006._The next day, authorities discovered the car in a garage at Towles’ home on Shady Grove Road in Etowah County with Geontae’s body inside.
