DeKalb commissioner injured in wreck

Published November 21, 2009

A DeKalb County commissioner is recovering after a two-vehicle wreck in the Rodentown community Thursday afternoon.

District 2 Commissioner Ed Nix, 73, of Crossville, was treated and released from Marshall Medical Center South following a head-on collision on County Road 4 at 4:03 p.m.

“My head was banged up pretty good,” Nix said Friday. “I got a knot on my leg.”

Nix said he underwent a CT scan and X-rays and is recovering nicely.

The driver of the other vehicle, Dewey Meador, of Boaz, was not injured, according to a state trooper spokeswoman.

Nix, who retired from the DeKalb County Road Department in 1991, has twice been elected commissioner since his appointment by former Gov. Don Siegelman in March 2001.
