‘Festival of Trees’ opens in Guntersville

Guntersville Museum opens its “Festival of Trees” with a reception Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

The exhibit runs through Jan. 4, 2010.

Schools, groups and businesses have decorated themed Christmas trees.

Students at the elementary and Cherokee schools have made all the decorations for their trees.

There also will be an exhibit of old Christmas cards and music boxes.

Sally York, of Albertville, has loaned the museum more than 100 distinctive Santas.

Events scheduled every Sunday through Christmas include:

• Sunday: First Methodist Church Bell Choir, 2 to 2:30 p.m.;

• Dec. 6: Harpist Carla Sullivan, 2 to 3 p.m.;

• Dec. 13: RSVP Dulcimer Players, 2 p.m.;

• Dec. 20: Pianist Kayley Darnell, 1 p.m., and the Kohl Academy of Arts choral students at 2 p.m.
