Sardis brothers arrested

Published December 8, 2009

Authorities arrested two Sardis brothers for receiving stolen property, according to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

The Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael Ryan Akins, 27, and William Lee Akins, 28.

“Michael Akins is charged with one count of second-degree receiving stolen property, and William Akins is charged with one count of first-degree receiving stolen property,” investigator Shane Hartley said. “Both charges are felonies.”

Authorities arrested the brothers in connection to a Nov. 24 burglary on Lawson Gap Road in Boaz.

“They were in possession of a four-wheeler and jewelry that was stolen from the residence,” Entrekin said in a statement Monday.

Entrekin said authorities recovered several pieces of jewelry from a jewelry store in Albertville, but the four-wheeler has not been recovered.
