For the second year in a row, the Albertville varsity softball team will participate in the D’Iberville (Miss.) Tournament during spring break.
The Aggies leave today for the event in the city located north of Biloxi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Albertville will take a 12-4 record into the tournament.
“Last year we played three top 10 teams down there,” said AHS head coach Paul Woodruff.
“We will be without Torrea (Talton) and most likely Brittany Copeland, who has a severely sprained thumb, for the weekend, so we’ll toy with the lineup a little bit.
“We’re excited about seeing some different teams.”
Albertville’s schedule is:
Friday, 5:30 p.m., vs. Picayune
Saturday, 9 a.m., vs. Biloxi
Saturday, 10:30 a.m., vs. St. Patrick
Saturday, 3 p.m., vs. Oak Grove
Picayune is ranked seventh in Class 5A in the Mississippi High School Activities Association rankings.
Oak Grove is No. 8 and Biloxi is No. 9 in 6A, and St. Patrick’s is ranked ninth in 3A.
When the Aggies return from spring break next week, they will travel to DAR on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and visit Class 5A, Area 13 rival Etowah on March 25 at 4 p.m.
