Police on lookout for stolen nitrous oxide

Published March 11, 2010

Albertville police are searching for two blue nitrous oxide tanks stolen Monday night from an outbuilding at 100 Andrew St.

“The reason for the theft, we believe, is it’s likely being used in the process of making meth,” Albertville Police Chief Benny Womack said.

Dr. James Porter II, a dentist, reported the theft of the 56-pound tanks, which are blue, similar in appearance to oxygen tanks and valued at $1,100 total.

Damage to the outbuilding was estimated at $200.

Police are asking anyone with information on the burglary to call 878-1212.
