The Boaz Area Chamber of Commerce has its slick, new Community Guide available for the public to pick up.
The office is located at 100 E. Bartlett Ave. and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
Chamber President Keyesta Sherman said her staff plans to deliver guides to every chamber member in February.
“We publish a new magazine every two years, and this is our third edition,” said Sherman, serving her fifth year as president. “Our focus was to try to encompass everything that was related to Boaz.”
A must-have for newcomers, the free Community Guide provides a wealth of information, including addresses and phone numbers for businesses, civic organizations, city and county departments, elected officials, and schools throughout the Boaz area.
Articles on Boaz history, lifestyle, housing, education, health care, recreation, shopping, business and industry are inside the 52-page guide.
You’ve been ‘MAPped’
Boaz area businesses are still getting “MAPped” on a monthly basis.
The chamber’s Membership Appreciation Program is in its sixth month after launching in August.
The staff and volunteers visit five chamber member businesses on the third Tuesday of every month. They deliver goodies and thank the members for doing business in Boaz.
The MAP visits are conducted in a limousine provided by Alexander Ford.
In January, the chamber ‘MAPped’ The Print Shop, Red Barn Animal Hospital, Williams Express Lube, Duke’s Cleaners and Wachovia Bank.
“Every time we go out the businesses are all surprised and excited to see us,” Sherman said. “We just want folks to know how much we appreciate them. They could locate their business anywhere, but they chose Boaz, and we’re grateful.”
The chamber’s business of the month for January is the Phillip Walker Insurance Agency.
