Ex-Wildcat players ready to lead S. Union

Three former Guntersville High School volleyball players — Emily Johnson, Caroline Price and Bailey Kimbrough — will be part of the Southern Union Community College volleyball team that sets out to win the Alabama Community College Conference state championship this weekend.

Gadsden State will play host to the tournament at its Cherokee Campus arena today and Sunday.

Besides Southern Union, the other teams in the field are Gadsden State, Wallace-Hanceville, Faulkner State, Jeff Davis and Snead State.

Southern Union faces Jefferson Davis today at 9 a.m. Snead takes on Faulkner State at 10:30.

The event is double-elimination.

The state champion will advance to the national tournament at the Mid-American Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Nov. 19-21.

Admission is $8 per day, and there is no charge for children ages 12 and under.
