Asbury School addition on target for June

Published November 24, 2009

ASBURY — Construction continues on the 16-room addition at Asbury School.

The project includes 15 classrooms and an elementary school library for the kindergarten through fifth-grade students.

An Asbury school official expects the addition to be completed by June.

“We definitely need the additional space,” the official said. “We hope to have all the elementary centered on that side of the campus.”

In August, the Marshall County Board of Education approved a $1.758 million bid for the classroom addition.

The addition is expected to replace many of the portable classrooms behind the school.

Eidson & Associates, of Cullman, is the contractor working on the project.
