Boaz man charged in Etowah County burglary

Published October 1, 2009

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men, including one from Boaz, on multiple charges of property theft.

Authorities charged Bobby Dale Ragan, 40, of Boaz, and Michael Jason Jenkins, 33, of Reece City, with burglary and theft of property, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Jenkins and Ragan are charged with one count of third degree burglary and one count of first degree theft of property and second degree theft of property,” investigator Jeremy Walker said. “All are felony charges.”

The charges resulted from an Aug. 22 incident in Reece City.

Authorities said Ragan and Jenkins broke into a residence on Dallas Road. After stealing jewelry, guns and other items, authorities believe Jenkins set the house on fire.

The Etowah County Arson Task Force responded to the scene Aug. 22 and later determined the fire was intentionally set.

“The structure is a total loss,” Walker said.

Jenkins is also charged with second degree arson.

Reece City is 28 miles southeast of Albertville, just north of Gadsden.
