Albertville head football coach Joel Poole has completed the Aggies’ schedule for the 2010-11 seasons.
The only new opponents on Albertville’s schedule will be non-region foes East Limestone in week one and Hazel Green in week five.
East Limestone is 5A while Hazel Green is 6A.
AHS and Guntersville will continue to play in week 10.
Albertville’s region opponents remained the same in the reclassification approved by the AHSAA on Nov. 4.
Class 5A, Region 7 will feature Albertville, Boaz, Arab, Fort Payne, Etowah, Southside, Scottsboro and Madison County.
“I would’ve like to have played some schools closer around us, but we couldn’t make some of those things work out,” Poole said. “Overall, we’re pretty pleased with it.
“I think a traditional 6A school will be more than adequate competition, and Guntersville is tough every year.”
Poole is familiar with East Limestone because he coached against them during his tenure at Madison County.
A former Crossville head coach, Jeff Poole, is head coach at East Limestone.
“East was in our region every year in 4A, and they bumped up to 5A and we bumped up,” Poole said. “We actually played them twice (in 2008).
“They always have good skill players. Coach Pugh does a good job. It will be a tough game opening up for us.”
Fort Payne and Boaz were co-region champions in 2008. Albertville and Southside earned the region’s other playoff berths.
The Aggies beat Arab 14-12 in week nine to secure their berth.
“There’s not a down week in our region,” Poole said.
“Etowah only had eight seniors. They played a lot of young kids, and they’ll be tough, obviously.
“Madison County will be better. They’ll have those kids back they lost, and Fort Payne will have their quarterback (Kyle Crabtree) and (Akeem) Appleton back.
“Boaz has a way to reload every year. They have some good kids coming up. It will be an interesting region. There’s no easy route.”
