Remains found could be missing Gallant men

Published December 17, 2009

Etowah County authorities believe human remains discovered Wednesday in Attalla are those of two missing Gallant men.

“They have found pieces of human remains believed to be the missing men,” Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Natalie Barton said. “Foul play is suspected. We have one person in custody, and we’re working to get a second person in custody.”

James Bachelor, 38, and Rocky Morgan, 55, were last seen on Dec. 2 at 2455 Rocky Hollow Road.

Authorities said Bachelor is a registered sex offender, but Barton said no evidence suggests that has any connection to the case.

Investigators started searching an area at 191 Center Road in Attalla at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sheriff Todd Entrekin said in a statement.

Authorities said Saturday that Bachelor may be in the Guntersville area to fish with Morgan, who is Bachelor’s uncle.

A family member reported the men missing on Friday, Entrekin said.

Barton said the sheriff expected to release more information on the investigation today.

Anyone with information regarding Bachelor or Morgan is asked to contact the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office at 256-546-2825.
