Child abuse charged in Boaz

Published January 15, 2009

A Boaz couple has been charged with four counts of aggravated child abuse.

Timothy Edgar Layow, 48, and Shannon Rebecca Layow, 25, both of 39 Cooper Courts, were arrested following a joint investigation by the Boaz Police Department, Marshall County district attorney’s office and the Marshall County Department of Human Resources.

The investigation alleged the couple abused four children, ages 8, 6, 5 and 4, by depriving them of food, water, and bathroom use, as well as the use of abusive discipline, and confinement.

The were arrested Wednesday morning and transferred to the custody of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office on $25,000 bonds each.
