School board meets for less than 10 minutes

Marshall County School Board members dispatched a personnel-filled agenda in record time during a special meeting Thursday morning.

Board members accepted the resignations of Jess Smith as English Language Learner teacher at Asbury High School, effective June 12; Karyon Head, AHS librarian, effective June 29; and Linda Whitaker, Douglas Learning Center LPN, effective June 22.

Lori Skidmore, speech and language teacher at the Community Education and Even Start programs, and Kara Turley, English teacher at DAR High School, were both granted maternity leaves beginning in August and ending Jan. 4.

Hired were:

• Jacob Lemons, social studies teacher at Claysville Junior High School

• Matthew Smart, language arts teacher at CJHS

• Angel Rogers, elementary teacher at Douglas Elementary School

• Christopher Shepard, science teacher at Douglas High School with additional duties as assistant football coach

• Pam Williams, special education instructional aide at Sloman Primary School

• Alicia Stone, instructional aide at Grassy Elementary School

• Charity Faith Free, instructional aide at Grassy Elementary School

• Christi McGuird, girls physical education teacher at AHS

• Angela Swatek, special education teacher at Brindlee Mountain High School

• Nicole Reyes, social science teacher at BMHS

• Ryan Justice, choral director at DARHS

Approved transfers included:

• Tracie Knott, transferred from instructional aide at the Community Education and Even Start programs to special education instructional aide at Sloman Primary School.

• Brandy Gardner, transferred from second grade teacher at Claysville Junior High School to third grade teacher at the school.

• Melissa Landers, transferred from science teacher at DHS to literacy coach at DHS.

• Nancy Skidmore, transferred from half-time librarian at Claysville Junior High School and Asbury High School, to full-time librarian at AHS.

• Linda Davis, English Second Language aide at AHS to instructional aide (ACCESS facilitator aide) at AHS.

• Jennie Baker, transferring from temporary preschool special needs teacher filling a leave of absence at Marshall County Community Education, to preschool special needs instructional aide at Marshall County Community Education.
