Rogers scouting report: Ryan Murray rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries, and Austin Kerr ran for 85 yards and two scores on 17 carries for the Pirates in last week’s win over Lauderdale County.
Friday’s game is a rematch of last year’s first-round contest, in which the Pirates upset the Wildcats 3-0 at Chorba-Lee Stadium.
The 2008 contest was a defensive struggle. Guntersville racked up just 205 yards of offense compared with Rogers’ 160.
Rogers has been outscored 187-170 this fall. None of the Pirates’ six wins came against a team with a winning record.
Rogers lost to the other playoff teams from Region 8 — No. 3 Deshler, No. 10 Brooks and Central-Florence.
Guntersville outscored its opponents 282-98 during the regular season. The Wildcats posted three shutouts.
GHS has outscored its foes 82-17 in the second period this season.
The Wildcats have won four games in a row. Rogers has won three in a row and five of the last six.
