SARDIS CITY — The Sardis varsity boys put four players in double figures Tuesday night as they roared past West End 87-48 at Sardis Gym.
Both Cody Gardner and Jerryn Harris scored 18 points, Brandon Walter 12 and Jeremey Hallmark 11 for the Lions, who evened their record at 1-1.
Sardis, which led 17-15 after a quarter, broke open the contest by outscoring the Patriots (1-1) 24-11 in the second period.
The Lions’ margin was 41-26 at intermission.
SHS used a 24-4 advantage in the third period to open up a 65-30 lead at the final rest stop.
Jeremy East tossed in seven, both Aaron Champion and Sean Brehm six, Paton Jones five, Tylor White three and Seth Mayo one for the Lions.
Kyle Fulenwider’s 10 points paced West End’s attack.
Toby Foster netted nine, Logan Moore seven and Caleb Mayo six.
“We played much better than in Friday’s loss at Catholic,” said Sardis head coach Tracy Cheek.
“The game was really tight early — 22-21 midway through the second. We opened the third quarter on a 12-0 run to put the game away.
“We really improved defensively, and especially shooting the ball behind the arc (8-of-15). All 10 guys gave great effort, and it was a total team effort.
“We have to continue to improve every game and maintain the intensity level that we had tonight.
“We had four guys in double figures, and two of those came off the bench. It was good to get the first win at home.”
Sardis will play host to Hokes Bluff on Tuesday before taking part in West End’s holiday tourney.
